We use 3D printed ceramic and clandestine LEDs to make a new kind of light. Each fixture’s unibody is illuminated as if by an invisible bulb, inverting its perception as the interior surfaces become the light source.
For millennia, ceramic has been used for its strength, plasticity, heat resistance, sustainability and material warmth. Today, digital modeling and fabrication have enabled the unprecedented realization of complex hollow structures. Incorporating these new-age technologies with ceramic’s age-old techniques, our fixtures' internal details conceal and interface with LEDs, wiring, diffusers and custom hardware. After glazing and firing, the perfectly smooth and clean forms show no hint of their computerized origins or the contents within.
The end result is a series of pure ceramic geometries that enigmatically illuminate both themselves and their environment without discernible aid from a light source.
Two Parts fixtures have won numerous awards since launching in 2016, including Architectural Record’s Record Products Award, Exhibitor Magazine’s Gold Award, Blueprint's Best Product Award, as well as the Chicago Athenaeum's Good Design Award.
Assembled in Brooklyn with parts from Europe, Asia, Queens and Manhattan.
Two Parts is the design factory for Brooklyn architect Christo Logan. His debut series of ceramic lights is the result of an obsessively iterative development process enabled by the confluence of new technologies. Christo trained as a classical cellist in Berkeley before studying architecture at Princeton and Columbia. After a decade in which he also taught graduate design studios at Columbia and UC Berkeley, he started Two Parts as a platform for open-ended creative recreation and production.
